Head of the Litigation practice of Clifford Chance in London from 1989 to 1996, Litigation Partner from 1973 and Joint Managing Partner of the firm 1987 to 1989, in full time practice as an independent Mediator since retiring from Clifford Chance in 1998, transferred to the Bar in October 2004 and now practising from Brick Court Chambers in London. He has wide experience of large and complex litigation in London and many other Jurisdictions including the US, Europe, the Middle East and Asia. He has been accredited by CEDR since 1992, is a former member of the CEDR Training Faculty and a Director of CEDR from 1995 to 1999. He is a member of the International Panel of Distinguished Neutrals and of the European Advisory Committee, CPR Institute for Dispute Resolution (New York). He is a member of the Advanced Panel of Mediators, LEADR (Australia and New Zealand) and a Fellow of the International Academy of Mediators. He was a member of the Commercial Court Working Party on ADR, and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. He was a speaker on "Introduction to ADR" for the Judicial Studies Board seminars for English judges. Individual claims have involved matters of up to US $1.2 billion. Mediations have included oil and gas, construction, insolvency, commercial agents, partnership, commercial contracts, libel, maritime, employment, charities, banking, IT, insurance, television rights, boardroom disputes and professional negligence. He has now conducted more than 500 mediations and is consistently rated at the top of the mediation league tables published by Chambers and the Legal 500.
